Flat roofing in Saint Petersburg. Modified bitinum, torch down for flat roof replacement. Torch Down in Saint Petersburg
There are two types of MB roofing membranes:
APP membranes are applied using a torch. The back of the sheet has extra asphalt on it which, when heated, bonds to the substrate. This was especially convenient for the smaller, more cut up roofs because less room and equipment is needed on site to torch-apply a membrane than is necessary for application using hot bitumen. APP polymer-modified bitumen membranes typically are heat-welded or torch-applied.
Generally, APP modifiers impart a "plasticized" quality to asphalt, and SBS modifiers impart a "rubberized" quality to asphalt.SBS polymer-modified bitumen membranes commonly are modified membranes that are self adhering; that is, they contain an adhesive backing.
Polyglass' SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene) modified asphalt, roofing membranes are reinforced with polyester and/or fiberglass mat offering superior flexibility, excellent tensile strength and dimensional stability. Polyglass' SBS modified bitumen membranes are meant to be part of a multi-ply roof system.
